Worcestershire were all out for 263 in 89 overs after being151 for 2.Worcestershire without their captain Graeme Hick, won the toss and thedecision of acting captain Steve Rhodes to bat first seened to be anadvantage as the openers Philip Weston (23) and Elliott Wilson (34)put on 51 runs, their first half century partnership in six matches.Later Worcestershire were 182 for 5 despite valuable contributionsfrom Vikram Solanki (71) and David Leatherdale (42).The two wicketkeepers Steve Rhodes (39 not out) and Jamie Pipe (30) ina new role as a specialist batsman put on 44 runs before Pipe got outto Neil Smith wihtout utilisng the two chances that Warwickshire hadlet off. Neil Smith finished with figures of 3 for 51.In reply, Warwickshire responded with 28 for no loss in 13 overs whenplay ended for the day.
