According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton are interested in signing Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, but Arsenal should be ready to hijack any potential deal.
What’s the word?
The Toffees are apparently plotting a swoop for the 21-year-old who has been extremely impressive for the Ligue 1 outfit since breaking into the first team last season.
The youngster’s sparkling form at club level even earned him his first four France international caps this year.
Which team is the dominant force in London right now? Playmaker FC’s Tom Skinner has a very unpopular opinion on the matter. Check it out in the video below…
Now it would appear that Premier League clubs are paying plenty of attention to Ndombele’s exploits. Before Everton are able to land their man and bring him to Goodison Park though, Arsenal would be wise to enter the race for the talented Lyon man’s signature.
An investment they must be prepared to make
Unai Emery may well be planning something of a midfield overhaul at the end of this season with Aaron Ramsey set to leave the club, and with Mohamed Elneny clearly being considered surplus to requirements having not played a minute of Premier League football so far this season.
The Gunners boss should seek to replace these outgoing and underused players with young, promising talents who could form the next generations of Arsenal stars.
Ndombele has already demonstrated that he has the maturity, technical ability and physical capacity to shine at the highest level and is now ready to take the next step in his career.
With a Transfermarkt valuation of £31.5 million, acquiring the midfielder would require a significant outlay on the north London club’s part. However, if Arsenal are serious about restoring themselves as one of the premier outfits in European football then this is the kind of investment they must be prepared to make on a more regular basis.
